What is Worth Choosing
When visiting The Main Ingredient Ale House & Cafe, the choice of what to order should be guided by its reputation for elevated American classics and its superior beverage offerings. The menu strikes a fantastic balance between fresh, healthy options and comforting, indulgent dishes.
For lunch or a lighter dinner, the salads are highly recommended. One customer proclaimed the 7th St Steak Salad as "one of the best steak salads I've ever had," suggesting the freshness of the greens and quality of the grilled steak is exceptional. Other popular choices include the Courtney's Cobb and the uniquely refreshing Fresh Beets Salad with goat cheese and grapefruit. For those seeking comfort, the Green Chile Stew, a spicy blend of chiles, roasted pork shoulder, potatoes, and tomatillos, is a highly celebrated "local specialty" and a must-try for a taste of regional flair. Sergio's Mac & Cheese, baked with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and a pesto drizzle, is also a comforting and satisfying choice.
The taco selection is another area of distinction. Similarly, the Bistec y Chile Verde Tacos provide another bold, regional flavor profile. To complement any meal, the bar offerings are non-negotiable. With its highlight on a "Great beer selection," particularly local Arizona craft brews, and its capacity to create "Great cocktails," guests should always explore the drink menu. Finally, for a distinctive dessert, the Beer Float, made with a milk stout and vanilla ice cream, offers a truly unique and enjoyable conclusion to the meal. Choosing The Main Ingredient means opting for a piece of Phoenix history that delivers excellent, fresh American cuisine alongside an expertly curated bar menu.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is in a converted house. It's done up okay. You seat yourself and the benches are too low and our table was a little bit sticky. The music was perfect, it was a nice background but not too loud so you have to shout. The service was slow but nice. I had to ask to get my water refilled. We were going to order the charcuterie board but apparently it takes 20 min to prepare. I was glad to be told but baffled as to why that takes so long. The sandwiches were pretty good. Overall decent. Would be happy to go back but won't go out of my way.
April 05 · tdljldThis was a great little Cafe style restaurant. Situated in a historic home in Central Phoenix. It's worth the drive parking is tight. But the food!I will say it was one of the best steak salads I've ever had!!
May 16 · Dorathey DuffieldMy team came here for lunch and sat outside. The nearby misters and shade really helps cool down the patio area. They are very dog friendly and brought my pup a water bowl. The prices were really reasonable, the portions were good, and the taste was excellent. Our server was very polite and friendly and got out food out quickly. I will definitely be back with friends.
June 09 · Ricki MarieFirst time here, cute place, it's in a converted house, nest set-up. A lot of awesome art on the walls. Seat yourself inside or out, and a full bar, what more could you want. The food was delicious, large portion. Took the leftover home for later. I definitely need to come back and try a few things
August 23 · Jason BurlingameThis is a quirky and excellent brunch or lunch place to take your friends. When the weather permits, the outdoor seating is preferable. The food is in the pub style, freshly made and filling. The service has always been impeccable the times I have visited.I understand it is a party-place nighttime, however I haven’t had opportunity to indulge in that.
