Five Guys Introduce
For residents and students of the Arizona State University (ASU) area, finding the ultimate, customizable fast-food experience is a priority, and the Five Guys location on Mill Avenue in Tempe delivers exactly that. Positioned in the heart of one of Arizona's most vibrant and high-energy districts, this establishment has cemented its reputation not just as a fast-food joint, but as a destination for quality, fresh, and fully personalized American cuisine.
Five Guys distinguishes itself from other hamburger restaurants by focusing on a relatively simple menu executed with meticulous attention to detail. There are no freezers in their restaurants; the beef is fresh, the potatoes are hand-cut daily, and everything is cooked in 100% refined peanut oil. This commitment to freshness and quality is immediately apparent to the Arizona consumer who values a superior product, even in a quick-service format.
The core of the experience lies in customization. Every order, from the standard Hamburger to the Bacon Cheeseburger, comes with the choice of up to 15 different toppings at no extra charge. This allows local patrons to craft their perfect meal, whether they desire the classic "All The Way" combination (which includes grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, and mayo) or a unique, simple creation. This level of personalized service is a significant draw, ensuring that every visit meets the specific desires of the customer.
Beyond the burgers, the famous hand-cut fries—served either "Five Guys Style" (lightly salted) or "Cajun Style" (with a heavy dose of Cajun spice)—are a signature offering. They are so generously portioned that they often spill out of the cup and into the bag, a welcomed tradition that signals great value to the customer. Complementing the savory menu are the Milk Shakes, which are also fully customizable with multiple free mix-ins, from OREO pieces to the unexpected addition of bacon.
In a bustling location like Mill Avenue, which caters heavily to the ASU community and local nightlife, Five Guys provides the perfect Casual atmosphere and the necessary speed for a quick bite or a satisfying late-night meal, making it a reliable fixture in the Tempe dining landscape.

Choosing the Five Guys on Mill Avenue is about making an intentional decision for quality and control over your meal, distinguishing it from general fast-food choices available to the Arizona consumer. The price point, while higher than some competitors (as noted by some reviews), is justified by the restaurant's non-negotiable standards of freshness and premium ingredients.
What is truly worth choosing here are the three core elements: the customizable Burgers, the famous Fries, and the casual, welcoming atmosphere. For the burger, the ability to build a perfect sandwich from scratch with fresh, multiple toppings is unparalleled. This ensures every bite is tailored to the diner's specific preference, an aspect that elevates the experience beyond a standard order.
The fries are arguably the true star. The commitment to using fresh potatoes and cooking them in pure peanut oil results in a quality, "hot and fresh" product, often cited as the "best fries I’ve had in a very long time." The choice between the classic "Five Guys Style" and the seasoned "Cajun Style" provides a simple yet effective way to vary the side dish experience, all while enjoying the value of the generous extra scoop placed in the bag.
Finally, the location itself is a perfect fit for the Tempe environment. It serves as a necessary haven for quick, quality sustenance in the dense, late-night hub of Mill Avenue, easily catering to the ASU crowd with quick service, accessibility, and a menu that’s perfect for satisfying cravings after a long day of studies or activities. It’s an investment in a higher-quality, fully customized fast-food meal.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1When I first walked into Place it was a bit. I’m assuming wasn’t really busy for Monday night. I don’t know why I always start this pizza place but I see you will be going to see asked what you suggested suggested licious, single burger, nice and greasy just the way it should be not over the seasonand the best fries I’ve had in a very long time showed up with traditionally old students very nicely from the greasy bag set on the counter as anybody is coming to before you stop check outWell, I like about the fries that they left the potato skins on the fries and when they came out, they were in this little cup or the bag was built. They weren’t overly salted with the vinegar. It’s pretty darn taste. Can you check them out?
September 29 · Jenghiz StewartPros: welcoming customer service, peanuts were mostly good, hot and fresh cajun fries, warm burger with good taste.Cons: burger was falling apart already on the first bite (as you can see on the picture). Not sure if it's just this location or it's a general Five Guys bread but it would've been helpful to have fork and knife to eat this burger. I felt the patties were small too. Overall, not sure if I'd come back to pay $20 for this quality of food.
December 22 · Armando SilvaI’ve been robbed. Robbed right in front of my eyes and I feel helpless. I came to have a nice burger and instead it became a hold up. I ordered a little bacon burger and instead got robbed for 19.88. Not only that but the employee was whispering and then when I mentioned I couldn’t hear him startedscreaming. Maybe I’m dramatic but you’ve lost a customer tonight. As someone who is a long time fan I can no longer justify coming here. I can no longer justify getting robbed to my face. I am at the Tempe location on Mill Avenue a delightful spot that has been turned awful.
September 13 · Bryan ThompsonCant go wrong with five guys. I had a really nice shake the last time i was here, yes the food can be pricey but you get what you pay for!
October 13 · Alvin SsonkoJust shorted me on fries $7 for just the cup no extra scoop... five guys will never get another dollar from me.After their reply: Not a great experience to task me with telling you the same information on your contact us page...
