The Farish House Introduce
Nestled in the heart of downtown Phoenix, The Farish House offers Arizona diners a unique escape from the ordinary, seamlessly blending historic charm with an eclectic, modern European culinary experience. This remarkable establishment is housed in a beautifully restored 1899 Victorian-era home, providing an atmosphere that is at once cozy, romantic, and upscale. It’s a true local gem, providing a stunning backdrop right amongst the modern skyscrapers of the city, making it an ideal destination for a special date night, a quiet family gathering, or a celebratory meal.
The cuisine at The Farish House is described as a delightful blend of American and European influences, often referred to by the owner as "French grandma food." This culinary approach emphasizes slow-cooked, braised dishes that evoke comfort and warmth. As a women-owned and family-operated business, the restaurant prides itself on delivering a familial, welcoming environment where guests are made to feel right at home. This focus on atmosphere and genuine hospitality, combined with a commitment to quality food and an impressive beverage program, sets The Farish House apart in the competitive Arizona dining landscape.
The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering an array of small plates for sharing and robust, satisfying main courses. To begin a meal, patrons can select from "To Start & To Share" options like the luxurious Oysters Rockefeller ($15.00), the highly-praised The Dates—bacon-wrapped and chorizo-stuffed ($9.00), or a classic Brandied Chicken Liver Paté ($12.00). The cheese and charcuterie selections, including Rosemary Baked Camembert ($16.00) and Firm Cheeses ($10.00), are perfect for pairing with their extensive wine list.
The main "Supper" dishes are where the European and comfort food influences truly shine. Arizona diners rave about the perfectly cooked, seared, and sauced Filet Mignon ($42.00) and the incredibly tender Chianti braised Short Ribs ($35.00), which are slow-cooked to perfection. Other notable entrees include the traditional French Cassoulet ($35.00), the Italian beef stew known as Peposo ($22.00), and the delicate Barramundi Filet ($32.00). The menu is inclusive, featuring a satisfying Middle Eastern Stuffed Eggplant ($20.00) and clear vegan and vegetarian options.
Sides are designed to be shared and are anything but ordinary. Signature items include the fan-favorite Le Mac—a creamy, gourmet macaroni and cheese—and the savory Duck Fat Fingerlings ($10.00), often cited for their excellent seasoning. The Farish House Brussels ($10.00) are also a popular accompaniment. Ending the meal with a dessert from the "Satisfy a Sweet-Tooth" section is a must, with options like the light and fresh Tiramisu, the decadent Caramel Pecan Brioche Bread Pudding, or the smooth Chocolate Panna Cotta (all priced between $9.00 and $10.00).
The beverage program is another significant highlight. The Farish House is known for its "Great cocktails" and an extensive, well-curated "Great wine list," including pre-Prohibition era concoctions and international wine selections. Custom cocktails like the Knickerbocker and the Rosemary Lemon Drop have received high praise from local patrons for their unique balance and flavor profiles, making this a prime destination for happy hour drinks and an elegant nightcap.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What a nice little spot. The atmosphere is so relaxing and homey. There is a beautiful outdoor area and inside is unique as well. The staff were friendly and helpful.5 StarsWe have been to many steakhouses and this was the most well cooked steak we have had. From the sear, to the sauce, and the perfect cook, it was delicious. The Green Beans were so fresh and had a great but subtle crunch. The garlic and bacon worked perfectly. What a fantastic Tiramisu. So light and amazing flavors. I loved the blueberries as it added a freshness and another layer of flavors. The dates were cooked perfectly. Great balance of flavor and a delicious sauce. The Le Mac was one of the best Macs we have had at any restaurant. It wasn’t too heavy and was a perfect amount of creamy. The Knickerbocker drink was absolutely amazing. The raspberry puree really shined through. The Espresso Martini was a perfect after dinner drink. Very well balanced. The Rosemary Lemon Drop was delicious. The addition of the rosemary took this to another level.4 Stars - The pork belly had great flavor! I just prefer my pork belly crispy. If they would broil these for 1-2 minutes it would be amazing! The fingerling potatoes were very well seasoned and yummy. Again, we prefer them a little more crispy. The Sweet Potatoes were simplistic and simple. Well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The asparagus was fresh and for as large as they were, held together well and weren’t flimsy. They were a little lacking in seasoning but overall good.We will definitely be back to try the short ribs and sea bass!4**** = Set themselves a part with quality food and I want to go back.5*****= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness that is there!
October 04 · Brandon PickettWe were looking for some fun and unique place to take my daughter for her birthday, and this place was perfect! The setting and atmosphere of this place can't be beat, right in the heart of downtown nestled amongst skyscrapers sits this old historic house. The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. We started with some cocktails, which they have quite an extensive list of. Then we ordered the bacon wrapped, chorizo stuffed dates; to die for!! I ordered the braised short ribs and both my wife and daughter ordered the sea bass. All were tender and delicious! Finally we capped off the evening with the tiramisu, yum!
August 10 · Drew A.What a charming restaurant. I love how they kept the rooms divided, as it was in the 1920’s. The parlor was darling and the dining room was perfect for an intimate dinner. The decor took me back to a bygone era.The service was fantastic. We shared the dates, which were delicious, just needed a touch of salt or citrus to balance the dish better. I ordered the filet. Perfectly cooked—medium rare. But, the sauce was on the sweet side and really needed an acid to even it out. I did ask for salt and pepper for the entree which helped. But, not enough. I’d rather have it without the sauce next time. Maybe with a side of raw horseradish. The fingerling potatoes were perfectly cooked as was the asparagus. I’ll definitely come here again.
October 14 · Jennifer BellPricey, but very good. It is in a very old house remade into a restaurant, and it is very cute and small. The date appetizer we could have skipped, but the carrot salad with beets was amazing, we just wanted a little bit more cheese. The cherry duck on a bed of parsnips with asparagus was fantastic. Cherries balanced the flavors well, not too sweet. Short ribs were also super rich and delicious with mashed potatoes.
June 11 · Jenna LExcellent meal. I arrived kind of early, killing time before a show. Had a pretty good old fashioned (though it was made with rye whiskey, not bourbon the way god intended lol). Had the lasagna- it was really good! Portion size was just right and then dessert: tiramisu! I’m picky about tiramisu and, that said, this was one of the best ones I’ve had. They put a little twist on it by topping it with half-a-dozen blueberries— just enough to add some flavor without taking away from the flavor of the dish itself! I recommend checking this place out if you’re in Phoenix!
