Dirtbag's Phoenix Introduce
Bringing a taste of Tucson tradition and Wildcat pride to the Valley of the Sun, Dirtbag's Phoenix has quickly established itself as a vibrant local hangout in the Arcadia area. Originally an iconic University of Arizona (UofA) bar with a rich, decades-long history, this Phoenix outpost at 4801 E Indian School Rd carries the same fun, casual energy and commitment to great food and drinks that made the original a legend among students and alumni.
Dirtbag's is not your average neighborhood sports bar; it's an "elevated dive bar" and a full-service restaurant that has successfully blended a lively social atmosphere with a robust menu of high-quality comfort food. The establishment is famous for its hearty and satisfying fare, centered around the legendary half-pound "Dirtburger," which has been seasoned and prepared by an exclusive process to create a truly memorable meal. Whether you are craving that classic taste or one of their inventive variations, the burgers here are known to be hefty and juicy.
The culinary offerings extend far beyond the grill. Patrons can indulge in a diverse selection of appetizers like the large, crispy Fried Pickle Spears and house-made Adult Mac and Cheese, or fill up on signature sandwiches like the top-selling Reuben or a Classic Club. For those seeking something lighter, the "Deelites" menu offers fresh options such as the Southwest Salad. Adding to the diversity, the Phoenix location has embraced local preferences by introducing specialty pizzas, including the BBQ Chicken Pizza and a classic Pepperoni Pizza, ensuring there's a satisfying bite for every craving.
Crucially, Dirtbag's shines as a premier social and game-day destination. With its great beer selection, impressive cocktails, and late-night food service, the venue is a lively spot for locals, groups, and especially UofA alumni who want to "Bear Down" and catch the game. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming to all, and designed for camaraderie, making it the perfect spot for both a quick bite or a long evening out.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Service was rough at first - but when more servers came on schedule it was pretty good. The food is so so. Pickle spears are large. The atmosphere feels empty. A decent number of TVs that have been continuously stayed in place from all the other businesses that have been in this spot. It’s also a UofA bar
October 18 · Ryan KelleyThank you Yelp for inviting me to the Badges & Bites at Dirtbags. A fun event with lot's of great Hors d’Oeuvres and fun drinks. It's nice to meet some of the other Yelpers. Dirtbags is an elevated dive bar originally from Tuscon they nice selection of beers cocktails and bar food. We got to try some really good wings, pulled pork & cheesesteaks sliders, and egg rolls. The service staff was friendly and attentive. Thank you Bailey for organizing another great event.
January 21 · Victor MannWhat can we say about Dirtbags? Well, it’s supposedly a Tucson institution. So, when my buddies and I decided to watch Game Four of the NBA Finals, we figured Dirtbags would be the ideal spot. After all, this was a major sports event, and we were heading to a place that hangs jerseys on the wall, and Instagram is full of sports event specials. We grabbed some drinks and food, and like most of the other patrons, settled in to watch the game. But instead of hearing the roar of the crowd or the squeak of sneakers on hardwood, we were greeted by loud country music and classic rock blasting through the speakers. No big deal, so we asked the manager (giving off strong “Rick” vibes) to turn on the game sound. To our surprise, he said no, the “vibes of the bar” wanted music. Now, we’re not usually ones to challenge a vibe, but roughly 75% of the patrons were clearly watching the Finals. Also, the place wasn’t exactly packed. So I asked again. This time, Rick doubled down: “The vibes want music.” At that point, Girls Just Want to Have Fun had taken over the sound system. As the fourth quarter rolled around, another group of six asked for the game volume and were also turned down. By the final two minutes of the game, nearly every eye in the place was locked onto the TVs. People were cheering, living, and dying with each shot of the ball. Yet somehow, we were listening to a modern remix of Dancing in the Moonlight as the game concluded. The kicker? As we were leaving, we learned that the bar had played the audio earlier for an UA college baseball game. Apparently, the NBA Finals (featuring several Arizona alumni) didn’t make the cut.Now look, no one goes to Dirtbags expecting gourmet food or five-star service (they ran out of hamburger buns and messed up several orders at our table). But when the NBA finals are on and everyone is watching that game, maybe listening to Van Halen on full blast isn't the "vibes."If you're planning to catch a major game, especially something like the NBA Finals, you might want to try somewhere else.J.T.'s, The Porch, The Attic, and O.H.S.O. all have TVs, play the game audio, and offer better food. Now look, maybe Rick was having a bad day. Maybe he really needed to hear Girls Just Want to Have Fun to get through his shift. I won’t hold it against him. But in a place that bills itself as a sports bar, maybe letting people hear the NBA Finals should take precedence over curating a personal playlist.
June 15 · P. H.When my husband suggested we take the kids to Dirtbags—a place he’d loved for their Reuben—I was honestly a bit hesitant. I wasn’t sure it would be the most kid-appropriate spot. But I’m so glad I agreed to go, because it far exceeded all of our expectations! The vibe on the Friday afternoon patio was perfect—relaxed, welcoming, and surprisingly family-friendly. There were games to keep the kids entertained, and the menu had something for everyone. Our daughters (6 and 7) devoured the pepperoni pizza, and I went with the patty melt special crafted by Chef Jonathan, which was absolutely delicious. Our server Nicole was phenomenal—super attentive and incredibly patient with all of our family’s (admittedly high-maintenance!) requests. And to top it off, Chef Jonathan even came out with a special treat for our girls, which totally made their day.If you’re unsure about bringing the family to Dirtbags—don’t be. Great food, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
June 27 · arcadia parentsMy friend and I had dinner here tonight. The food was good, but the service was spectacular!! Our waitress, I believe her name was Amanda(she was the only waitress working on Thursday evening) She was amazing all the way around, personable, observant, and friendly. I want her manager to know that you are lucky to have her as an employee. Please consider giving her a raise. Thank you, Amanda, you are the best!!!!
