For the vibrant and health-conscious community across Arizona, La Vegana Madre stands out as an authentic and must-visit **Vegan restaurant** nestled in the historic Grand Avenue district of Phoenix. This local favorite specializes in capturing the deep, complex flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine while using entirely plant-based ingredients. La Vegana Madre is more than just an eatery; it's a culinary mission to showcase that Mexican food is culturally diverse and can be entirely plant-based without sacrificing authenticity or flavor. They expertly take classic, meat-centric dishes and reinvent them using seasoned vegetable proteins, jackfruit, and homemade cashew-based creams. The result is a menu of favorites, including the highly-praised **Tacos Al Pastor** and the savory **Tacos De Carne Asada**, which often leave new customers astounded by the texture and authentic taste.
The restaurant’s origins trace back to a successful food truck and pop-up kitchen, and it maintains a strong local, family-owned identity. The atmosphere is deliberately inclusive, noted as being **Family-friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly**, and a **Transgender safespace**, ensuring that every patron feels welcome and respected the moment they step through the door.
While the overwhelming consensus highlights the exceptional quality of the **Vegan Mexican food**—some even calling it the "best vegan option in Phoenix/Scottsdale"—the experience may occasionally be impacted by service speed, as noted in some customer feedback. However, the passion behind the food and the commitment to flavor, using unique ingredients like jackfruit for their **Carnitas** and homemade cashew cheese for their renowned **Nutchos**, keeps the local support strong and enthusiastic.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great little place to get delicious vegan Mexican food. Locally owned and operated, just as good as the food truck. Big fan of the Carne Asada and I've heard nothing but great things about the horchata. Was lucky enough to get an order of the NUTchos this time, highly recommended!
December 31 · Ashley GrayOk so the only reason this place is.getting 3 stars is for one reason...customer service. My hubby and I were 2 of 4 people in the entire place. And the other couple finished their food and left 10 minutes after we arrived. We ordered our food and did get our nachos right away, but waitied nearly 30 minutes for 2 tacos beans and rice. My husband had to find the guy up front and ask him about our food. He said he forgot we were there. Great thing we weren't on a quick lunch break. The food itself was not so bad. Kinda blad, not horrible, but nothing to write home to your mama about either.
November 07 · Jenn DBeen looking for this place for a while after reading about there vegan carne asada tacos, and I was not dissapointed. I've had just about everything on there menu. The Al Pastor mixed with the sweet pineapple and flavorful tomatillo go well in the tacos, and the soyrizo burrito a must try. But I think so far the picadillo empanada is mine and my wifes favorite. I like Green's but I LOVE THIS PLACE. A MUST TRY!!!
December 28 · jon shaulisWe had visited Mi Vegana Madre when they had a pop up at the Treehouse Bakery and were so excited to hear that they had a store front now. We tried a variety of items for lunch today and we were not disappointed with a single thing. Everything was delicious! The burritos were pretty hefty and the tacos were loaded with "meat". We also tried the Nut-chos, al pastor torta, horchata, and a few desserts. We chatted with the owners and they even let my little ones help them decorate their Christmas tree. Great vegan food with awesome customer service. We'll be back again soon!
December 08 · LaLady ValdezHaving their food throughout the years, with their food truck and restaurant, I was sad to hear they closed down due to covid. I was excited to hear they opened back up in 2023! Their location is a shared food kitchen so no place to sit down, you order online and pick up with a link code, very quick and efficient! Now for the food: the food is flavorful and I love Mexican food with a vegan twist. Hoping their business succeeds and more people get to try the food!
