Culinary Dropout Introduce
Culinary Dropout, nestled in the heart of Phoenix, is far more than a typical American restaurant; it’s a lively, trendy gastropub and a complete social experience. Housed in a spacious, creatively repurposed space often referred to as 'The Yard,' this establishment breaks away from convention to offer an electric atmosphere paired with a menu of "classic meals done right." For Arizona locals seeking a spot that seamlessly blends delicious, elevated comfort food with an energetic bar scene and entertainment, Culinary Dropout is a premier destination.
The concept is built around a relaxed, soulful vibe—a "little gastropub rebel child" that doesn't take itself too seriously but is very serious about its offerings. The menu is a modern take on American classics and New American cuisine, featuring amped-up appetizers, hearty sandwiches, and signature entrees that are perfect for sharing or solo dining. Popular dishes that consistently draw crowds include the widely celebrated Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue, the tender 36-Hour Pork Ribs, and the famously decadent Fried Chicken.
Beyond the food, a major highlight for the Phoenix crowd is the expansive bar, with two-thirds of the menu dedicated to an impressive selection of Beer, Wine, and imaginative Handcrafted Cocktails. Whether you are planning a casual lunch, a lively dinner with friends, a weekend brunch, or a late-night outing, Culinary Dropout provides a dynamic backdrop that appeals equally to groups, families, college students, and tourists exploring the Uptown Phoenix area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Culinary Dropout! From start to finish, everything was five stars across the board. The starters were amazing! Packed with flavor, fresh, and perfect for sharing. The entrées were outstanding as well, beautifully prepared and seasoned to perfection. Every plate that came out was a winner, and it’s rare to have everyone at the table rave about their meal, but that’s exactly what happened. To top it off, we indulged in the monkey bread with ice cream for dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending. Warm, gooey, and delicious. It’s a must-try!What really stood out was that even our 7- and 8-year-olds were raving about the food, which says a lot! It’s not easy to please both kids and adults at the same time, but Culinary Dropout nailed it.Great service, fantastic atmosphere, and incredible food. We’ll definitely be back. Planning my next staff team bonding for October here!Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun dining experience with top-notch eats!
September 02 · Keristin JonesIt’s was alright. The service was great and we were well taken care of. Bethany took great care of us even though she was very busy.Drinks - 8/10, they were all pretty good for the priceAtmosphere - 10/10 fun, good music. A bit crowded but to be expected and I don’t knock stars off for that.Food - 4/10 it was just okay. It wasn’t bad nor inedible. But my burger was well done and a bit dry (ordered medium). The cheese was just basic American cheese but for a $20 burger I was expecting something a bit nicer. My friends got the fish and chips. They said it was good but there were only two very small pieces of fish. Like maybe 5 bites? The ribs were also good but nothing special. The problem I have is this food was no better than your local Chilis or Red Robin chain but more expensive. I wouldn’t go back for dinner, but I’d happily go back for drinks and some soft pretzels (those WERE 10/10).
October 12 · Jacqi RollinsThe best location in the valley! The free valet is a great added touch and super quick. The vibes are fun and social. The food is amazing. Brussels sprouts were yummy and not too hot. The fish and chips were moist and crispy and the Mongolian short ribs essentially melted in your mouth, amazing. Finishing it all off with their famous monkey bread. I’ll have to come back for happy hour, the bar looks like fun!! Our server and all staff were very attentive and friendly
June 02 · MEGHAN CUMAI was blessed to have lunch today with Jeff at Culinary Dropout on 7th street in Phoenix. The moment I walked in I felt a cohesive dynamic and positive energy. The industrial aesthetics motivated me to pick up a camera and share this place with the community. First, the entire restaurant is an open floor plan and the central dining area feels like you’re dining with family and friends; everyone was delighted to be there, and the chatter, smiles and laughter proved it. The ambient lighting sets a tone that transforms your dining experience to a memorable one. The entire staff works together to make sure everyone leaves satisfied. During my time spent, I noticed from the bartenders to the managers everyone shared in all the responsibilities from start to finish. I was delighted to see the servers and bartenders taking the orders and the managers expedited the meals to table and wished everyone a fine dining experience. The entire process from start to finish worked like a well-oiled machine; never did I hear anyone complain, and everyone left satisfied including us. The folks here at Culinary Dropout deliver a dining experience like no other restaurant does. Next, the food was delicious. We split a Chicken Caesar salad and ordered the Hot Wings. The chicken in the salad was juicy and charred to perfection the entire salad has a zest that bites the inside of your cheeks. The wings were a perfect balance of sweet, tangy and hot. The ice tea was fresh brewed and left me wanting more. I want to have brunch here because they serve Banana Bread French toast. How fabulous does that sound. To the entire staff at Culinary Dropout on 7th street, thank you for a memorable experience. You folks understand the art of service and it shows. A special thank you to Dustin for attending us from start to finish. See you folks soon.
September 26 · Jon MendozaWe decided to once again try a new place. Once again we were surprised to see the inside of this place. We went on a Sunday, and were seated right away. Servers were busy as their stations were very large. Our meals came out in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, my wife's meal was not correct. We mentioned this to the server, who immediately went to the kitchen to fix the error. The staff was very friendly, (PS, i ordered the soup of the day, and unfortunately I got what they called "yesterdays soup. They said they ran out of what I ordered. I recommend servers should have told me before bringing me the watery, with most likely used yesterdays veggies as well. Having visited our table many times!😶🌫️my family took their timein eating. I eat fast, and then wander. Shuffleboard, ping pong, corn hole, and I'm sure I missed other activities. An interesting and fun place.
