I don't need to tell you that Airport food is so overpriced that it should be illegal! Don't even get me started on the price of water, 3 times more than gas for your car. But typically in all my travels I'll usually spend $12-$15, $19 maybe for a burger and fries in an airport and I have came to accept that IF I absolutely must eat because of a long layover or delay. So this time while having an extremely long delay/layover at the PHX Sky Harbor airport I decided to eat there at "The Goods" by "Mark Tarbell". So I ordered the Burger & fries and was extremely dissatisfied with the COST, SIZE and QUALITY. I paid $29 including a fair tip for this meal that didn't include a drink, if you can call this a meal. Coming from a well known establishment in the area I figured it would be nice. But I will never eat here again, I will never pay this price for such a cheapy crappy burger and fries. They also had a limited amount of bottled drinks and no Dr Pepper so had to go across the way to get a Dr Pepper from a different place. They were extremely slow considering there was no line and hardly no one eating there, the service was terrible. That should have been a clue, not to mention all the other bad reviews. My suggestion to them: drop your price to reality, this is not a fancy Scottsdale restaurant, and up your quality to be better than a $6 Big Mac. At least a Big Mac had 2 patties. Your burger is ALL BUN. Where's the beef! - Larry

What is Worth Choosing

Choosing The Goods by Mark Tarbell is a practical and satisfying decision for several reasons, particularly when navigating the busy environment of a major Arizona airport. It represents a significant step up from standard concession fare, offering chef-driven food in a quick-service setting.

First and foremost, the restaurant's commitment to fast service is paramount. For Arizona residents trying to catch a flight, minimizing time spent waiting for food is invaluable, and this establishment prioritizes efficiency. This alone is a compelling reason to choose it over slower, full-service alternatives.

Secondly, the menu diversity ensures that travelers at any time of day can find something appealing. From the extensive breakfast menu featuring the Mediterranean Frittata and Brioche Breakfast Roll, perfect for an early start, to the robust lunch and dinner options like the Bbq Pulled Pork Roll or the Green Chile Pork Bowl, the selection is broad enough to satisfy various cravings. The inclusion of salads, such as the Grilled Chicken Caesar, also offers lighter options.

Moreover, by choosing The Goods, you are supporting a concept associated with a local Arizona culinary talent, Chef Mark Tarbell. This connection offers a unique sense of place and a higher expected standard of quality than generic national chains. The emphasis on American comfort food, such as the Cheesesteak Sandwich or the classic burger, provides familiar, satisfying nourishment before a flight. The availability of 'The Sweets' like the Double Chocolate Brownie makes it a perfect stop for a treat or a final bit of energy before boarding.

While some travelers have noted concerns regarding pricing and value—which is often a systemic issue across all airport dining venues—the core benefit remains the combination of quick service, convenient location post-security in a major terminal, and a menu designed around satisfying, familiar American favorites. It’s an effective choice for a quick bite or a full meal, making it a reliable destination for travelers moving through Phoenix Sky Harbor.
