Cornish Pasty Co Introduce
For those in Arizona seeking a truly unique and satisfying dining experience that expertly blends traditional British pub fare with modern, inclusive options, the **Cornish Pasty Co.** on Tempe’s iconic Mill Avenue is the premier destination. While rooted in the history of Cornwall, England—where the pasty was the hearty, crimp-edged lunch of tin miners—this local favorite has expanded its menu to become a haven for diverse dietary needs, particularly establishing itself as a standout vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurant in the Valley of the Sun.
The pasty itself is a hand-held, baked savory pastry, essentially an elegant hot pocket, traditionally filled with meat, potatoes, and root vegetables. However, the Cornish Pasty Co. has taken this concept and run with it, creating over forty varieties, including an entire dedicated section for vegan and vegetarian pasties. This commitment to variety means the restaurant appeals to everyone from traditional comfort food lovers to those adhering to a strictly plant-based diet, all while maintaining a casual, cozy, and distinctly British pub ambiance. The atmosphere, often described as having a cool, dark, and narrow vibe, complete with a long bar and rock music, provides a relaxed backdrop that makes it a popular spot for lingering over a meal or a drink.
Beyond the pasties, the restaurant functions as a full-service English pub, offering a great selection of beers, cocktails, and late-night food options, catering perfectly to the busy nightlife of downtown Tempe. It’s a place where quality ingredients, generous portions, and an effortlessly cool setting converge to deliver a filling and memorable experience, whether you’re a local ASU student, a curious tourist, or a long-time Arizona resident.
The Mill Avenue location of Cornish Pasty Co. is perfectly positioned in the heart of Tempe, making it an extremely convenient stop for anyone in the downtown area. The address is:
- **Address:** 425 S Mill Ave #111, Tempe, AZ 85281, USA

Being directly on Mill Avenue, the restaurant is easily accessible by various modes of transportation, including the nearby Tempe Streetcar and major bus lines. For those driving, the dense, popular downtown area offers a combination of parking options. Customers should anticipate using paid street parking or paid parking lots in the vicinity. There are also a limited number of free street parking options, but these fill up quickly, so planning for a parking fee is advised. The location’s accessibility is excellent for all patrons, as it offers a fully wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating, ensuring everyone can enjoy the cozy pub atmosphere.
This establishment offers a comprehensive array of services, going beyond simple dining to provide a complete pub and restaurant experience, all with quick and friendly service.

For diners in Arizona, especially those in the Tempe, Scottsdale, and greater Phoenix area looking for a vegan restaurant with substance, Cornish Pasty Co. is worth choosing for several compelling reasons. Most significantly, it demolishes the notion that plant-based food is limited to salads and light fare. Here, vegans and vegetarians are offered the same level of hearty, flavorful comfort food as their omnivorous counterparts, wrapped up in the perfectly flaky, house-made pastry crust.
The dedicated vegan pasty menu is incredibly robust, moving beyond basic vegetable fillings to offer complex, rich flavors in varieties like the **Vegan Guinness Stew** and the New Mexican-inspired **Vegan Carne Adovada** (made with jackfruit), ensuring a deeply satisfying and filling meal. A real-customer review noted how delicious and filling the food is, capable of keeping one 'full n good for the whole night.'
Furthermore, what is worth choosing is the experience of the pub itself. It provides an energetic, cool, and casual environment that is often hard to find in dedicated specialty restaurants. The open bar facing Mill Ave allows for great people-watching, and the overall laid-back feel, where service is attentive and friendly, creates a comfortable social spot. This unique combination—a cozy, fun British pub with a fantastic beer selection that happens to feature an extensive, high-quality vegan menu—makes Cornish Pasty Co. an essential, inclusive, and highly recommended dining destination for the entire Arizona community.

The menu was sweet and they had lots of beer to choose from I'm pretty sure I got the cottage pie they had alot of pastys to choose from! and my bartender he helped me choose between the cottage pie and bangers and mash I got one or the other he was very attentive to all the people at the bar it was awesome the bartender even had the same name as me! Lol that was cool he had a great attitude and knew how to keep eye contact and make small talk , the pasty was very filling I was full n good for the whole night I was out! . I would def like to come back to one of the locations and try more off there menus , thnx for the great food and comfy spot! Did not feel overwhelmed at all for how busy mill Ave is the place is dope
May 25 · Dylan JohnsonThe food here was incredibly delicious. I can’t recommend it enough. My friend and I got two pasties to share which were the Guiness Stew and the Shepherd’s Pie. We also shared an order of Tandoori Wings. The Tandoori Wings was my favorite part of the meal. They were so flavorful and slightly charred on the outside yet still very moist and juicy. I still think about those wings from time to time. The two pasties were also delicious and had a lot of depth in flavor. They come with sauce on the side but honestly, you would not even need it. I cannot wait to come back to Phoenix just for this place.
January 04 · NFirstly, 100% Brit approved from me!Had a great experience at Cornish Pasty Co with my partner. The food was excellent all around, her soup was absolute perfection, and my shepherd’s pie pasty, even though it had a bit too much cheese on top for my taste, genuinely felt like having one back in Cornwall. Really comforting, hearty food that hits the spot. We’ll definitely be back.
September 28 · Mr Tattoo LadRidiculously awesome! Was in town to run the Arizona Half Marathon and ate here twice. The pasties are so unique and excellent!Great place to people watch too.Party ordered:- chicken pesto pastie- oven baked chips (garlic)- grilled cheese and tomato soup- came back on day to to get oven baked chips w/ cheddar and ranch.
January 19 · Bryan CarrollSo this place is definitely unique and worth a visit! First, the food is outstanding! Pasties come in a ton of flavors, varieties, very cross-cultural from Mexican to Greek to classic homestyle American, vegan, just name it and they probably have it! I ordered the chicken potpie-safe choice for me and it is huge, baked fresh and came with gravy, potato chicken veggies felt like eating at Grandma's. Also tried their tomato bisque soup which was very good, rich, a little pricey for the small portion but goes well with the pasty. Husband has tried the rosemary chicken and the greek-loved both but said the Greek was the best. With two iced teas, two pasties, and cup of soup, our bill was about $45 before tip. Typical for lunch for us these days and definitely worth it. The place, unfortunately, is very quaint but seating is severely limited and it's not very comfortable. The main door swings open easily and the bar is completely open from table top to ceiling. Our visit had some extremely cold weather that day so if it wasn't for this super warm heating vent above the bar, it would be way too cold to dine in. Parking is a nightmare, we have not been able to dine here because it is so limited and not very close by. Also, nearest bathroom is a little inconvenient-shared community bathroom around the corner from the restaurant and not very clean with only a single stall. Service was great, food came out fast, all in all, a 4/5 and definitely another trip back!
