Almuerzo, whose name fittingly means 'lunch' in Spanish, successfully bridges the gap between traditional breakfast and satisfying midday fare, offering a menu that keeps local patrons returning time and again.
The restaurant’s reputation is built on delivering deeply flavorful dishes that move beyond the ordinary. Customer reviews frequently highlight the quality of the ingredients and the depth of the flavor profiles, distinguishing it from typical diner fare. For the Arizona diner looking for a memorable weekend or weekday brunch, Almuerzo promises a dining experience that is both comforting and adventurous. The focus on unique ingredients and signature recipes means that every visit can offer a new culinary discovery, from savory egg specialties to perfectly prepared sweet treats.
Almuerzo is conveniently located in the Laveen Village area, making it easily accessible for the community and for visitors traveling through the southern part of Phoenix. The specific location and contact details are as follows:
- Address: 6115 51st Ave, Laveen Village, AZ 85339, USA
- Phone: (602) 237-7665
Nestled on 51st Avenue, the restaurant’s setting in Laveen Village contributes to its local, neighborhood charm. This location is easily reached via major local roads, which is a crucial factor for a brunch spot in the geographically expansive Phoenix Valley. The presence of both a landline and a mobile number ensures that local customers have reliable ways to contact the restaurant for reservations, inquiries, or takeout orders. Being situated in a mixed-use area, it is positioned well to serve both the residential community of Laveen and those commuting nearby.
To accommodate the preferences of the Arizona dining public, Almuerzo offers a range of services designed for flexibility and convenience:
- Dine-in Service: The core offering, providing a full-service experience for patrons to enjoy their brunch inside the restaurant’s unique setting.
- Outdoor Seating: The restaurant offers outside seating, a highly valued amenity in Arizona. While a customer review notes that this can be "harsh" during the summer months due to the heat, it is a perfect option for the cooler fall, winter, and spring weather that much of the state enjoys.
- Takeout and Delivery: Almuerzo facilitates both pickup and delivery, ensuring customers can enjoy their favorite dishes at home or the office, which is essential for busy local patrons.
- Full Menu Offerings: Operating as a comprehensive brunch restaurant, they serve a variety of breakfast, lunch, and specialty items, ensuring there’s something for every palate, whether you crave sweet pancakes or a savory egg dish.
- Catering: The establishment also advertises catering services, positioning itself as a partner for local events, parties, and corporate gatherings in the Laveen and Phoenix area.
Almuerzo’s menu and overall atmosphere offer several distinct highlights that make it a standout choice for brunch in Phoenix. The emphasis on high-quality, memorable flavors is evident in customer testimonials and the menu itself:
- Signature Green Chili Dishes: A major highlight is the use of green chili, a Southwestern staple. Patrons rave about the freshness and flavor of dishes like the poached eggs with green chili, described as "so full of flavor." Other green chili options include the Green Chili Omelette and the Green Chili Benedict.
- Inventive Appetizers: The menu features truly unique starters that go beyond typical brunch fare. The "Stingray Crispy Roll-Ups" are a highly favored appetizer, praised by a customer as an "amazing" favorite. The "Morning Charcuterie Board" and "Bone Marrow Bruschetta" also showcase their culinary creativity.
- Exceptional Flavor Profile: Across the board, patrons consistently praise the quality and taste, with one review stating, "I have not had a bad dish ever." This dedication to consistently delicious food is a major feature.
- Friendly Staff: Reviews note that the staff is "friendly and not hovering," indicating a commitment to professional and welcoming service, despite some operational challenges mentioned in other feedback.
- Creative Toasts and Pancakes: The menu includes creative twists on simple classics, such as the "toast with lox" (likely the Sr. Santos Toast or Morning Charcuterie Board mentioned on the menu) and very good pancakes, which are appealing options for both savory and sweet cravings.
As the Laveen Village community continues to grow, having a reliable and exciting brunch restaurant like Almuerzo is a significant asset.
What is worth choosing at Almuerzo is the opportunity to taste an elevated, highly regionalized version of brunch. When you choose this restaurant, you are opting for a flavorful culinary journey that showcases the versatility of Southwestern and American brunch cuisine.
The unique strength of Almuerzo lies in its bold flavor combinations, particularly the use of green chili in classic dishes like Benedicts and omelets. For Arizona locals who appreciate robust, authentic flavor, the green chili options are an absolute must-try. Furthermore, the commitment to fresh, complex dishes—such as the poached eggs and the specialty appetizers like the stingray rolls—demonstrates a passion for food quality that elevates the entire dining experience. While the restaurant may experience occasional service and organizational challenges, as some reviews indicate, the overwhelming consensus is that the food quality is exceptional and consistently worth the visit. It is highly recommended to try one of their signature, inventive dishes, like the Chef's Favorite Eggs or the Surf N' Turf Benedict, to fully appreciate the unique value this local Phoenix eatery provides.
The outside seating, while potentially too warm during the summer, is a perfect bonus during the beautiful Arizona winter and spring, offering a chance to enjoy the weather with a fantastic meal. By choosing Almuerzo, you are supporting a local business that is working hard to establish a reputation not just for a meal, but for an experience that is memorable, flavorful, and distinctly Laveen. It is a place where culinary creativity is clearly valued, ensuring your brunch will be anything but boring.

- Love their food, the poached eggs and green chili is so full of flavor. The pancakes are very good too. I have not had a bad dish ever. Downside is the size and set up of the eating area. Love how they offer outside seating but during the summer that is harsh. The staff is friendly and not hovering. September 12 · lisa chavez
- Food was amazing! The stingray appetizer and the toast with lox was my favorite. The service was terrible. Although they were polite they were definitely disorganized and did not listen when they took your order. If you are going to shue pigeons off the table when you seat us at least offer to wipe it down. Luckily we carry clorox wipes with us. Had to repeat our order multiple times, then they brought us someone else's food. Had to finally go inside to ask for a check and a box since our waitress didn't come back out for like 15 minutes, but when you go inside there are 5 waitresses standing together talking. - While visiting in town my friend and I were looking for a breakfast restaurant and came across this place. Awesome food! I had a very unique Mexican spin on a classic eggs benedict, this one had corn cake and slow cooked beef. My friend had the Butter Pecan Waffle, so light and fluffy that if it was any lighter it would have floated off the plate. Definitely going to stop by again. Delicious food and fantastic service. - Been here many times and the food is consistently good. If I find more pictures I’ll upload them but as a Laveen dweller this is one of the best restaurants we have out here. Never a bad time August 20 · Adilene Victoria
- Really good food! I wasn't expecting this lil spot in a shopping center to be this good actually. But my experience was awesome. The food is cooked to order. And it's flavor!! Before I was able to take a photo we had already ate half our food. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was 🔥🔥🔥 cooked with this bomb crunch. And it's served with a spicy syrup. My green chicken burrito was huge for $10 bucks! August 18 · Alicia Farrell
