Canyon Pizza Co. (GCU ONLY) Introduce
For those in the Arizona region, finding a convenient and affordable "Pizza restaurant" is always a priority, and Canyon Pizza Co. serves as the dedicated on-campus pizzeria for the Grand Canyon University (GCU) community in Phoenix, AZ. Located at the bustling core of the university, this spot is a go-to choice for a quick and satisfying meal, perfectly fitting the need for classic "Comfort food" during a busy day.
Canyon Pizza Co. operates with a primary focus on pizza, providing a range of full-size pies and individual slices for "Lunch" and "Dinner." While it is specifically noted as a GCU-affiliated dining option, its location within the 85017 ZIP code means it is a key resource for individuals working, studying, or living in the immediate vicinity. The establishment is designed for easy access and quick turnaround, with an "Atmosphere" that is decidedly "Casual."
Customer feedback on the quality and experience at Canyon Pizza Co. is varied, which is common for high-volume, quick-service campus eateries. One review praises it as "The best pizza on campus" and "Cheaper than other pizza places," highlighting its great value and popularity with its core customer base. However, another, highly detailed review expresses strong disappointment with the food quality, citing issues with grease, crust texture, minimal sauce, and wait times, ultimately recommending that the experience should be avoided unless significant changes are made. This stark contrast suggests a highly polarizing product that may appeal strongly to those prioritizing budget and convenience, especially within the context of campus dining dollars.
Canyon Pizza Co. is established as a dedicated "Pizza restaurant" providing fundamental dining services on the GCU campus. Its menu centers around classic pizza, fulfilling the universal demand for a warm, savory meal. As an on-campus pizzeria, the concept is built on delivering volume and accessibility, catering largely to the student body and faculty.
The restaurant offers a menu that, based on descriptions of other Canyon Pizza Co. locations, likely includes a variety of specialty pizzas such as Meat Lovers, Veggie Lover, BBQ Chicken, and even unique options like a Philly Cheese Steak Pizza, alongside appetizers like wings and garlic twists, and a selection of fresh salads. These diverse options firmly place its offerings in the "Comfort food" category.
The dining experience is geared towards efficiency, being highly popular for both "Lunch" and "Dinner" times. The service model supports both customers who wish to "Dine-in" and those needing a fast "Takeout" option. The restaurant accepts "Credit cards" and "Debit cards," aligning with the modern payment convenience expected in a contemporary retail environment.
Canyon Pizza Co. is strategically located within the Student Union (or a related food court area) on the campus of Grand Canyon University (GCU).

Due to its classification as a GCU ONLY establishment, non-university patrons should be aware of the university’s policies regarding campus access and parking for visitors before planning a trip, even though the general facilities are publicly accessible.

Canyon Pizza Co. is worth choosing primarily for local Arizona users who are either part of the GCU community or those who are extremely budget-conscious and value convenience above all else. Its reputation for being the "best pizza on campus" among some of its patrons and its very competitive pricing make it an unbeatable option for an affordable "Lunch" or "Dinner."
However, potential visitors should approach this restaurant with realistic expectations, as evidenced by the conflicting customer reviews. If you are looking for gourmet, artisan pizza with a thin, perfectly charred crust and complex flavors, the Quad Kitchen's focus on high-volume production may lead to disappointment regarding dryness, crust quality, and grease levels. If, on the other hand, you are seeking a fast, hot, and cheap meal—classic "Comfort food" that accepts easy payment methods like dining dollars, is fully accessible, and has free parking—then Canyon Pizza Co. fulfills that role perfectly within the Phoenix 85017 area. For those with time constraints, however, it is prudent to call ahead, as some reviews indicate potential wait times of up to an hour. In short, its value proposition is high convenience and low cost, a trade-off that is highly appreciated by many in a busy university setting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Everyone is a fan of pizza right? It is one of the most popular foods out there and for very good reason. When I imagine a perfect pizza I imagine a fluffy crust with a perfectly charred bottom, layered atop is a succulent tangy tomato sauce followed by a bubbling layer of mozzarella cheese that pulls like you have never seen before, and loaded with toppings. That pizza makes your arteries clogged yet your heart feels full of warmth and happiness. Well, I don’t get any of those feelings from Canyon pizza besides the clogged arteries from all of the grease that is on that pie. Oh you thought that I was going to stop at the grease? Oh no, I sure got more to say. That crust at canyon pizza, if you told me that they use cardboard for their crust I would 100% believe you. Now let's talk about the sauce. Or should I say What sauce. Every time I get a pizza there it comes out dryer than the sahara dessert because they are adding so little sauce. On to the cheese. Their cheese is the definition of mediocrity. I get little to no cheese pull and end up feeling like my little cheese pull friend is missing after every bite. Just like the sauce is missing. Let's talk about toppings now. The toppings on the pie taste like nothing but grease and disappointment. Every time I take a bite of that pizza I feel nothing but disgust, shame, sickness, and regret for wasting my time and dining dollars on such a horrendous pizza pie. Oh yeah, the time. If you order a pizza from Canyon Pizza you should expect to be wasting at least 45 minutes to an hour out of your day. All the time spent waiting for nothing but a sad dilapidated pie. It is like finally getting to see your long distance girlfriend after going to different colleges only for her to break up with you right away. If all of this sounds good to you then Canyon Pizza is your spot to go. Only you would have to be an insane person to believe what I just said sounds good. I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemies to eat at Canyon Pizza. Unless some major changes come to the Canyon Pizza franchise I would highly recommend staying away from that dump that they call a pizza restaurant. You have been warned. One out of five stars.
October 10 · Ty SeversonLove the pizza I eat here every day. Cheaper than other pizza places so a great option. They are the best pizza on campus!
December 04 · Christopher SuperganWe waited 40 minutes with no one ahead of us in line. Our first pizza did not have cheese on it and was just tomato sauce and sliced tomatoes. When I received my “large” pizza I ordered it was a small and all they offered us for the trouble was a side of ranch. Absolutely unacceptable service and food quality. Do not go.
October 20 · Cooper Ayers40 minutes with only 2 people infront of me in line to get my pizza. Only 2/3 of the pizza was covered in toppings and I don’t think they even put sauce on the pizza. I got a meat lovers and added onions and garlic and the onions looked like they were cut with a stick and the pizza was so garlicy and salty I almost felt ill. Just standing In line for 5 minutes I saw a can of spray, a pizza cutter fall on the ground and not be cleaned. They are sleazy by setting in down and using it 10 minutes later so that people don’t notice how dirty they are. They are all just a bunch of jack offs giggling in the back. If this were my establishment id fire them all.
October 05 · Kaden BaergI'd rather not give them the satisfaction of one star, but that's the minimum. This school usually does a good job creating a standard that creates good services, but has dropped the ball here. I ordered a pizza expecting a standard 30-45 minutes that I would see at a pizza shop around the corner. After waiting just over an hour I got a notification at they needed more time and 50 minutes had been added to my delivery. I didn't realize I would have had to wait for them to grow the tomatoes for my sauce. Also ordering in person takes way to long as well. A little cheat key, if you want pizza at noon order at 10 then maybe you'll see it at 1 if your lucky. I am extremely disappointed by gcu for this extremely poorly operated restaurant.
