Neveria El Picachu Introduce
For residents and visitors in Phoenix, Arizona, searching for a unique and authentic taste of Mexican sweet treats and quick bites, Neveria El Picachu is a prominent name. Located in the 85009 zip code, this establishment, whose name translates roughly to an ice cream shop/Mexican dessert spot, is highly regarded for its refreshing raspados (shaved ice) and local specialty snacks. It operates in a casual, cozy, and trendy atmosphere, attracting a diverse crowd of groups, tourists, and locals alike.
Neveria El Picachu's menu is centered around traditional Mexican desserts and street food-style comfort items. The highlight is undoubtedly the selection of Raspados, which are Mexican shaved ice drinks generously flavored with natural fruit syrups. Favorites include exotic and robust tastes such as Ciruela (Plum), Tamarindo, Mango, Guayaba (Guava), Durasno (Peach), and Freza (Strawberry). They also offer traditional ice cream flavors like Vainilla, Chocolate, Galleta (Cookie), and Strawberry. Beyond the standard flavors, the broader menu often includes specialties like Mangoneadas, Taki Locos (Takis topped with fruits and chili), and fresh fruit medleys like Escamocha, ensuring a true taste of Mexican confectionery art. They are known for serving a "Great dessert" and a "local specialty."
Beyond the sweets, Neveria El Picachu caters to a wide range of dining occasions, being popular for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, as well as being a great source for "Late-night food" and a "Quick bite." They offer comforting, small plate options perfect for solo dining. The environment is consciously designed to be family-friendly, listed as "Good for kids" and even offering a dedicated "Kids' menu," making it a perfect spot for families in the Arizona region to enjoy an outing.
It is important for local users to be aware of the provided customer feedback, which raises concerns about cleanliness and food freshness. While the business aims to provide fast service and a good experience, recent reviews mention inconsistent quality, specifically regarding reheated/stiff meat in savory items like the carne asada torta and sopes, as well as an extremely concerning sanitary incident. A customer reported seeing a "ROACH" in their beef soup and was disappointed by the staff's seemingly unconcerned reaction. Another review noted that "The tables are always dirty" and expressed disappointment in the quality of the food. These are significant points that potential visitors must weigh against the establishment's popular dessert offerings and convenient features.
Despite the serious issues raised in customer feedback regarding sanitary procedures and consistency in savory food quality, the business continues to attract customers for its specialized dessert offerings and the availability of amenities like Wi-Fi and multiple payment options. As a community member, it is vital to have the full picture to make an informed choice on where to spend your dining dollar in the Phoenix area.

For Arizona users, choosing Neveria El Picachu is primarily about seeking out its highly praised and authentic Mexican desserts and local specialty items. It is worth choosing if your main goal is to experience a traditional raspado in unique flavors like Tamarindo or Guayaba, or if you're looking for a refreshing, flavor-packed snack like a Chamoyada. As a destination for a sweet treat, a "Great dessert," or a late-night bite, the shop provides an appealing local option.
However, it is crucial that locals considering a visit carefully weigh the recent, serious customer feedback against the menu's appeal. The reported issues regarding "dirty" tables, the quality of savory food (stiff, reheated meat), and the severe complaint about a sanitary incident involving a foreign object in the food, along with the alleged lack of concern from the management, cannot be overlooked. While the atmosphere is described as cozy and it’s great for kids, these reported problems with food safety and quality inconsistency in the savory items are significant. If you choose to visit, it is advised to proceed with caution, especially when ordering non-dessert items, and to prioritize the fast service and renowned sweet treats over the kitchen's full menu offerings.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This use to be a favorite place of mine, but these last few times we have come it seems the place is going downhill. The tables are always dirty, and the food is no longer fresh. The meat is always stiff and seems reheated. They might not think us customers notice but we do. I was especially upset tonight as we ordered a carne asada torta for the kids and the carne asada was reheated/stiff and the bread was burnt black. I ordered carne asada sopes and the meat was the same as mentioned above. So dissapointed in this place.
February 22 · Genesis Rodriguez*** CUIDADO HAY CUCARACHAS EN LA COMIDA***A relative recommended this place to me so I was excited to try their food since it's very close to my work, but sadly their food and service wasn't good, I called ahead of time to place my order and when I got there they didn't even know about it so I had to place the order again and wait longer than expected, I ordered beef soup (caldo de res), and everything look good until I saw a ROACH in my soup, there is no clear view of the kitchen in this place, so nobody really knows how the food is really handled, or if they follow any sanitary procedures!. When I went back to complain about it, the lady in charge gave me my money back and kind of apologized, but looked as if she wasn't really concerned about this incident, she didnt seem surprised, embarrassed, upset or anything....also no questions or actions were done either as if this wasn't the first time something like this happened.. It made me feel like they would continue to sell this soup throughout the day instead of throwing out. Very disappointed. My first and last time ever going to this place!
September 21 · Marelyn EstradaCame in to order food stood around for over 15 minutes. The lady said you are ready to order and then just walked away. Refuse to take our order because we spoke English. We can read the menu just because we are white does not mean that we do not speak Spanish or can't order food. I just wanted 3 taco . Only front area was cleaned rest of the place was dirty.
September 15 · Wicked SpyUse to be my favorite place for fries but every time I order them to go they do this and the fries are and refried I don’t know how many times . They use old fries and you bite into it and it’s full of oil. Very disappointed . They’ve done this a few times if you get lucky you might get fresh fries.
October 17 · judith del angelYummy food! I was a little hesitant at first, but I’ve gone there twice and DID NOT DISAPPOINT 😍 I want to try their licuados next time I go!
